STATEN ISLAND, N.Y., August 3, 2023 — Chelsea Financial Services celebrates Financial Advisor Jim MacRunnels and his wife Colleen who together have been the top fundraiser for Special Olympics in the State of Illinois multiple times in the past 20 years. The MacRunnels surpassed One Million Dollars raised during the past 11 years of their 20-year involvement with the Special Olympics via the LETR – Law Enforcement Torch Run. Chelsea Financial honors their Advisor Jim MacRunnels with a donation and publicity sponsorship for their August 20th Event: ‘Pulling For Special Olympics Illinois Sporting Clay Shoot.’
“My wife Colleen was first ‘assigned’ to the Special Olympics as required charity work by her boss, the Warden of the Department of Corrections where she worked,” stated MacRunnels. “It was one of the best things that ever happened to us. We fell in love with these kids and the Special Olympics became our passion.”
The MacRunnels adopted the Maple Park, IL Police Department, funneling all of their Special Olympics Fundraising through the LETR – The Law Enforcement Torch Run, a charity event that is closing in on raising 1B for the Special Olympics. The majority of the donations raised for LETR remain in the State of Illinois for local and state Special Olympics programs.
“Our goal for 2023 is our largest ever, $250k, since we want to raise money for Special Olympic participant scholarships as well.” stated MacRunnels. “There are many events in which to sponsor or participate, including participating as a shooter in the Clay Shoot, the ‘Polar Plunge’ event, the ‘Wheel-O-Meat’, or simply by donating to the LETR.”
MacRunnels recently joined his business with another Chelsea Financial Services Rep, Mike Jump. They have been friends for decades and have had many successful fundraising efforts with the popular ‘Wheel-O-Meat’ fundraising concept. “The ‘Wheel-O-Meat’ fundraising events are really successful, even if they sound a little crazy.” joked Jump, who helped fundraise with multiple ‘Wheel-O-Meat’ events, including the more recently renamed ‘Wheel-O-Service’ for the local VFW post. “The ‘Wheel-O-Meat’ continues to be a great and very popular fundraiser for our Special Olympics fundraising, going on 18 years. We’re even being asked to help run ‘Wheel-O-Meat’ events in other communities.” added MacRunnels.
Chelsea Financial Services Company President, John Pisapia remarked: “We’re very proud of both Jim MacRunnels and Mike Jump and everything they’ve done for Special Olympics and Veterans in Sandwich, IL, Elburn, IL, and their surrounding communities. Now that they’re joining their businesses together, they are certainly a force to be reckoned with…Not only in charity, but also in Financial Services.”
MacRunnels lives in Sugar Grove, IL with his wife of 41 years, Colleen, retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections. They have one son, Jamie, 36, who works in Juvenile Justice as a Recordkeeping Supervisor. MacRunnels is a Financial Advisor licensed since 1989 with a Series 6 and also sells insurance in WI, IL, SC, TN, CO, ID, AZ, AR, and FL. He joined Mike Jump’s successful financial services group in May of 2023, where securities are offered through Chelsea Financial Services and Advisory Services are offered through Chelsea Advisory Services.
